11th Annual EMS Awards

On Friday, November 13, 2009, The Office of Emergency Medical Services will host the 11th Annual EMS Awards Banquet at the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel. This banquet is a way for the Office of Emergency Medical Services to recognize individuals for their hard work and dedication to the provision of emergency medical services in New Jersey. 


The members of the New Jersey EMS Council will review all valid nominations and select the recipients for each category.  We hope you will take this opportunity to recognize and nominate those among us who are outstanding members of the EMS community.

Instructions for Submission:

Any interested EMS, police or fire personnel, organization or any private citizen may submit a nomination for any of the awards.  Please note, in the applicable categories, nominees must be currently certified or licensed at the level for which they are being nominated.  Nominations for outstanding service and/or achievement and lifetime achievement awards must have taken place within the State of New Jersey in preceding years. 
 
Nominations should be no less than 300 words, clearly stating why the nominee should be considered for the award.  Nominations will be reviewed by a panel of members from the New Jersey EMS Council. Individuals can be nominated for more than one category; however, all nominations must be submitted individually. 
 
Any nomination that does not meet the award criteria will be considered invalid and will not be forwarded to the EMS Council membership for their review and selection.  

 
 
 The deadline for receiving nominations is August 15, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.

 

 

EMS AWARDS PROGRAM CRITERIA 2009

 

Award Categories:

 

Outstanding EMS Call ‑ Honors an individual, multiple individuals, or teams on the same incident for an outstanding call/incident/rescue by EMS personnel.

 

Outstanding EMS Action by a Youth – Honors a child (12 years or younger) for a lifesaving act in which quick thinking, fast action and heroism were demonstrated, or, for unique advocacy of EMS in New Jersey.

 

Outstanding EMS Action by a Citizen ‑ Honors a private citizen for a lifesaving act in which quick thinking, fast action and heroism were demonstrated, or, for unique advocacy of EMS in New Jersey.

 

Outstanding First Responder ‑ Honors a first responder affiliated with an organization (e.g., police, fire, industrial) who has assumed a leadership role by achievement in areas of on-scene patient care, outstanding rescue, public access to EMS, disaster preparedness, public education, and/or training.

 

Outstanding EMS Dispatcher ‑ Honors a communicator/dispatcher for outstanding effort in processing a New Jersey emergency medical call. (If available, please include a tape or transcript of the call.)

 

Outstanding Volunteer EMT-B ‑ Honors a currently certified volunteer EMT-B who has assumed a leadership role in EMS by achievement in areas of patient care, public access to EMS, disaster preparedness, public education, and/or training in New Jersey.

 

Outstanding Career EMT-B ‑ Honors a currently certified career EMT-B who has assumed a leadership role in EMS by achievement in areas of patient care, public access to EMS, disaster preparedness, public education, and/or training.

 

Outstanding ALS Provider ‑ Honors a currently certified ALS provider (EMT-P, MICN or ACM [FP or FN]) who assumed a leadership role in EMS by achievement in areas of patient care, public access to EMS, disaster preparedness, public education, and/or training.

 

Outstanding EMS Physician ‑ Honors a physician who has served as a medical director, on or off‑line, for either an ALS or a BLS service, and who has made a positive contribution to EMS in New Jersey.

 

Outstanding EMS Administrator ‑ Honors an EMS administrator on a local, county, regional, or state level who has served EMS in some capacity and who has made a positive contribution to EMS in New Jersey by achievement in areas of patient care, public access to EMS, disaster preparedness, public education, and/or training.

 

Outstanding EMS Educator ‑ Honors a certified EMT instructor, course coordinator or clinical educator who has advanced EMS education in New Jersey through outstanding organization or innovation in the delivery of educational programs to EMS personnel.

 

Outstanding Volunteer EMS Agency ‑ Honors a volunteer EMS agency that has assumed a leadership role in EMS by achievement in areas of patient care, public access to EMS, disaster preparedness, public education and/or training in New Jersey.  The service maintains a positive image in the community and has taken meaningful and visible steps to assure quality of patient care, professionalism of its personnel and identifying and taking steps to improve the service in areas such as response times, quality improvement programs and continuing education.

 

Outstanding Private EMS Agency ‑ Honors a privately-owned, currently licensed commercial service that has assumed a leadership role in EMS by achievement in areas of patient care, public access to EMS, disaster preparedness, public education and/or training in New Jersey.  This service maintains a positive image in the community and has taken meaningful and visible steps to assure quality of patient care, professionalism of its personnel and identifying and taking steps to improve the service in areas such as response times, quality improvement programs and continuing education.

 

Outstanding Public EMS Agency ‑ Honors a currently licensed EMS service operated by a municipality, not‑for‑profit hospital, or a county or state agency that has assumed a leadership role in EMS by achievement in areas of patient care, public access to EMS, disaster preparedness, public education and/or training in New Jersey.  The service maintains a positive image in the community and has taken meaningful and visible steps to assure quality of patient care, professionalism of its personnel and identifying and taking steps to improve the service in areas such as response times, quality improvement programs and continuing education.

 

EMS Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award ‑ Honors an individual for lifetime achievement (service of 20 or more years) in the EMS field.  At least 15 years of that experience must have been as an EMS volunteer.  A commemorative plaque will also be permanently displayed in the NJ Office of EMS.

 

EMS Career Lifetime Achievement Award ‑ Honors an individual for lifetime achievement (service of 20 or more years) in the EMS field.  At least 15 years of that experience must have been as a career EMS employee.  A commemorative plaque will also be permanently displayed in the NJ Office of EMS.
